Weekend Get-Aways // 11-1-2018-Cumberland Island, GA

Cumberland Island - Raw Nature at Its Best - November 1, 2018

Cumberland Island - Raw Nature at Its Best - November 1, 2018 ($133)-

The emerald of the Georgia islands with wild horses, historic sites, and dunes as high as the sky is a hiker's delight and photographer's dream.

Cumberland, a national seashore, is managed by the park service. The 45 minute ferry to the island departs from St Mary's, GA. Only 300 people a day are allowed on the island and we purchase ferry tickets when you sign up - so the sooner you sign up for this trip, the better.

Two private guides, steeped in the nature and history of the island, meet us in St Mary's and will be with us all day.We are on the island for about 4 hours.

This is an active trip. You must be able to leisurely walk up to four miles over the course of the day to enjoy the visit to Cumberland. We take lots of breaks - for water, to rest, hear the guides talk about the history and nature of this paradise and make a potty stop.

If you choose to trek over the dunes (they are like small hills - up and down, steady, but not steep), that would add another mile.

A sack lunch is provided. Lunch will be a turkey sandwich on wheat unless you let us know you want something different else (ham on white, veggie wrap).

There is no place to buy anything on Cumberland. We stop at a local restaurant in St Marys for dinner (on your own)before heading home. The food is good and not very expsnsive.

If you have a national pass park, let us know and bring it with you. One park pass covers the additional entrance fee ($10pp) for 3 people. This fee is not included in the cost of the trip since we generally have enough park passes to cover it.

If you get an error message when signing up online, print out the form and send in with your check or credit card information.

Full payment reserves your space.Cancellation policy: If you have to cancel before the published deadline date, you will receive a full refund. After the deadline date, you may sell your space, but no refund.

Fare Includes: transp & ferry, guides, lunch, bus driver's fee. Deadline -Oct 2, 2018. I will post it on the website when the trip is full.
